AM: Funky start to the morning but finally got things moving. Just very slow going and had some unexpected running around to do. Did still manage to get out the door a little after 8am, did the home loop from lab to stop and say hi. Knee no worse off from the speed yesterday so I'm happy about that. A little bummed about the Garmin, I've had two HR monitors break and today during the last quarter mile of the run the actual unit broke. The hard plastic part that the strap attaches at cracked and the strap fell out. Luckily it is less than a year old so they are sending me a replacement same as the HR straps. They even let me keep the old one until the new one arrives but made me put down a $100 deposit... A little glue will fix it for the week but am concerned about the longevity of the replacement. I don't abuse the thing but I guess it wasn't designed for 80-90 miles of wear and tear a week... Mi 9-R3 Avg. 8:07

PM: Well I tried to break in my new flats. Didn't work to well. I had worn them to walk around and wanted to do a fast downhill mile to see if they would feel right for St. George. They felt great from the get go and during my warm-up miles I looked down and saw I was going about 6:15 pace uphill. I backed off and waited for the turn. I was going to run SLC MM 4 shooting for 2:30 pace or a 5:11. I turned the corner and just let loose. I got stopped up by the McDonald's but just picked it back up and had to go around a few cars at 21st E. When the Garmin beeped I looked down at a 5:03! I was pretty happy with that and backed off. Then went to cross the street to head toward SH and my knee just started really acting up. Not sure if it was the speed or the new shoes but it didn't feel nice. I've stretched and iced and am ready to go to bed. Mi 4-AR Avg. 7:35

Ok Adam, I finally have some time starting next week to do some longer ones. I'm trying to find out if Seth Wold can join us also. Game for it?

From Adam RW on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 16:27:01

Steve, Thanks for the offer. I have to see what my knee is doing. It was not too happy with the new flats. I'm thinking about returning them. The problem is I don't know what I'm going to wear for St. George now...

Have you tried the Asics Banditos? Their almost an ounce heavier.

From Jon on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 19:24:02

Adam- MarcieJ will be brining me up some shorts from SGRC. I told her to leave them with you and I can pick them up in a few weeks (assuming it is still ok with you and your wife that I crash at your place Sept 5).

From Adam RW on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 08:19:00

Jon, That should be fine on both accounts. Just have her contact me and I'll get her my address.

From Adam RW on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 08:19:49

Kory, I wasn't able to find anyone with the Banditos to try on... I did return the Racers. My knee is feeling better but it really bugged me on Wed. We'll see how it feels today.

From Jon on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 08:53:27

Adam- aren't you running Hobble Creek? I figured she could give them to you there.

From Adam RW on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 10:55:59

Jon, Sorry I'm not. I'm running SL next weekend...

From Jon on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:27:51

Crap. Anyone from your area running it that could get my shorts from Marcie?

From Adam RW on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:30:32

Maybe check with Walter. Chad is the closest and is not...

From Jon on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:31:08

Walter is doing TOU.

From Adam RW on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:40:12

Sorry I just like making life difficult.

From Adam RW on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:40:58

Do you know Josh Steffen? I think he is doing Hobble...

From adamr on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 23:03:46

Adam,

I enjoyed the adizero CS for the first 150 or so miles. After that the upper became very dry- almost paper like and stiff. Then they began to feel hard and not natural. At this point I am back and forth on them. Some days they feel ok, other days I'm afraid that only a couple of miles in them will be my downfall. The medial post has bothered some runners I've heard, but it didn't bother me. I got them and the Adizero RC flats at the same time, and I enjoy the RC flats more now than in the beginning. Currently I am using the Asics SpeedStar as a lightweight trainer and enjoying that one alot.
