Another tough night of sleep. But this morning was much harder to get up. Did end up watching two movies that friends from work had lent me Wall E and Mama Mia both cute movies. Today I decided I didn't want to add to the damage the valley air has been doing to my lungs so I ran up Emigration over a little and back. Saw a number of people out doing the same. Fun run. Took it very easy, goal was even effort both ways.

Out Avg. 8:37 HR 145 (~10 mi up 0.5 dwn)
Back Avg. 6:50 HR 149 (0.5 mi up ~10 dwn)

4 bpm difference, I'll take that...

Adam if we are to remain friends don't ever refer to a movie again as "cute":)

One a more manly note: Good job on you 21 mile run today. Keep up the good work your doing awesome this so far this year.

That sounds like a great run, nice job doing your goal.

Clyde, you have to remember I'm the only guy in a house of four... On a manly note I did pee blood after the run. In all seriousness I write this so people will know. It turns out that I had my water bottles too high and they hit my kidneys the whole run bruising them up pretty bad. I had never had this happen before mainly because I normally don't run with water (unless over 15 mi) and I normally wear them lower. The doctor I saw ran a few tests and confirmed that this is all it was, he also said there is nothing special to do about it just take it easier and be more careful of how I wear my water. I drank a bunch of water from a glass not strapped to my body since and am already back to "normal".

Aaron, Thank you.

Peeing blood? Yeah, that's a bit worrisome and definitely deserves a doctor visit. Glad it's nothing serious.

When do you plan to run a 20+ again? Maybe I will have to join you, assuming you start at a reasonable hour. :)

From Adam RW on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 18:08:45 from 24.10.132.131

Fritz, I'm shooting for one almost every Saturday. I was planning on contacting you this week because if the air is clean I wanted to do Jordan River Parkway next Sat with a quick section in it, I know you mentioned you prefer a faster pace compared to what I normally do. If the air is still cruddy I was planning on doing today's run again but "cooking" on the way down. Today was just a recovery long run after a hard work week. Let's confirm on Thur/Fri. Is 7am too early?

Jon, It was very disturbing. It was just the time immediately after today's run and cleared up by the third bathroom visit. Fortunately, I was able to get into the clinic on a Saturday and get my mind put to ease.

Adam, 7 AM on Jordan River or Emigration would be fine with me. Just shoot me a note on Thursday or Friday to confirm. I have never heard of bottles bruising kidneys before...weird. I usually just carry my water in my hand with a strap. The bottle and my garmin get my arms huge.

Adam great run there, nice pace on the way back and only a few beats on the h/r more thats really good going.

ON another note, I wear a backpack and stop for water if needed and maybe a gel, so its a big water bottle in the back pack although I do get rub marks on my shoulders and back from the back pack its ok when the water is full its when its less full swishing about causes the pack to rub but I dont notice till I am home.... although mostly my husband cycles with me and he wears the back pack now so Im good for that. Glad it wasnt anything too serious as blood in urine can be alarming. great running did I say that well Great Run Adam :)

I spoke with a med student friend of mine and he didn't seem overly concerned either. The symptoms really seemed like an acute trauma. Whatever it was everyone I've talked to said as long as it is a one time thing and went away to not worry about it. I've been good since.
