I think my leg is a little worse instead of better. Even with the low mileage days the previous two days. I'm just frustrated at this point. I did two miles on the TM as a warm-up then I stretched and did the home loop. My right leg just didn't want to loosen up. 2mi @ 7:10 6mi @ 7:27 HR 146

I've decided I'm going to take two days completely off. I'll see how my commute run goes on Tuesday...

Bummer to hear your leg isn't cooperating.

Not that I know anything, but from the sound of it you are probably best off giving it a couple days off. It always impresses me what the body can do to heal itself when given the proper rest.

It is frustrating to have your plans thwarted like that. Especially not knowing exactly the cause.

Sorry to "hear" that you weren't up to doing your long run. I'M impressed with your 8, and reminded of your earlier comment of it being close to infinity. Keep on keeping on.

Adam, rest it, you wont lose much over 1-2 days rest and then you can slog on..... swimming is great for loosening the legs its like a massage but exercising too :)

Sorry, man.

From Adam RW on Fri, Jan 29, 2010 at 00:10:32 from 24.10.132.131

First, thank you for your concern.

Jon said it all and that is about all I know at this time. That I'm in a sorry state.

Being a runner who can't run is horrible.

As Aaron points out this is compounded by the fact that I don't even know what happened.

I'd done some consistent high mileage but >90% of it was at SUPER easy effort.

I'm not sure if the illness on the 12th and the kidney incident on the 16th had anything to do with it.

All I know is that I wasn't that bad Mon-Wed. In fact Wed was relatively good. Then Thur quickly went south and it got worse from there. Sunday was spent in pain and even with Sun and Mon off the 2.5 mi into work on Tues hurt every step. It is in the piriformis area again but seems to have a lot more general hip/joint pain (Jon I'm sure you can relate). However, all this week I've been limping a little while walking much less trying to run.

I saw a PT yesterday and she helped added a few more exercises (I've been stretching doing core, etc for ~45 min each day since Sun). She referred me to an orthopedic guy for x-rays and additional assessment (next appointment not until Monday afternoon).

Right now I'm frustrated and mad at my body. Maybe I did something stupid I don't know.

My focus until the pain goes away is the stretching exercising and really hitting things at work for a distraction.

So it goes, this is NOT the first time I've had an injury and I know it won't be the last. Just to cope with it and still hope to toe the line in April sub-2:39 or not...

Good luck with the recovery. Bummer deal.

Adam-Wow, I am so sorry to hear about this. I have been having similar problems lately. I have an injury in my hamstring/bum area and couldn't run for 9 days, causing me to pull out of the Houston Half. It was feeling better so I started running again and now today I've been limping all day again with the pain now in the front of my hip. Injuries STINK!!!

From Jon on Sat, Jan 30, 2010 at 20:40:49 from 75.169.143.180

Darn hips!

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Mon, Feb 01, 2010 at 16:19:07 from 90.195.99.113

Huh that sounds horrid, I know the injury thing and nothing replaces running for runners not one type of exercise, it just isnt the same I know but Hey Adam, I hope you got some answers today with the xrays etc, and I have my fingers crossed and thoughts for you that its all not too bad eh ! :-) smiles sent over the water to you.

Sorry to hear about the step back. Anything new? Any progress?
