Single: 7hrs sleep. Thanks to Steve’s suggestion I met up with him for a long run this morning. Initially I thought about doing MP mi repeats, then I thought about doing a long stretch of MP work, in the end we just went long at a medium pace. It is funny how plans change. (In the end Chad it would have probably been good for you to have made the drive over, my bad.) I met Steve at the marathon finish line and then we drove to the 8MM. We then went along the course until about mile 17.5 when Steve realized he didn’t have the keys to his car. I was an idiot and saw them on the car seat next to his wallet and hid them both as to not inspire a car break in. Luckily Steve was at least on the ball and realized my mistake before we got all the way to the finish. So we cut back up 45th to the 8MM and then cut over to 21st and down to the ~21.5MM and continued the course minus the extra around Liberty Park. We got to the finish in 21.5 mi and then added on an easy 0.5mi to finish off the run. We did have some faster stretches, a few miles from the 13MM to the end of Van Winkle but it was VERY windy for that stretch making pace effort seem very tough indeed. We also pushed in the last mile and a half. The rest of the run we were lost in conversation. It was good to run with Steve and get to know him better. Overall, the run was a good effort and a nice distance, not the workout I had planned but I believe things happen for a reason and it turned out to be the workout I needed. I’m still very nervous about the marathon but the run today and seeing the rest of the course did help build up some confidence. Mi 22-T1 Avg. 6:46 HR 157

You'll be ready for the marathon. When is it?

Adam RW- I'm nervous for every marathon, but it always turns into good energy. I think if your not nervous somethings wrong.

I'm really feeling in unknown territory what's going to happen, because I haven't really put together a strategy like I usually do for this marathon. If I can hang with you and run good tangents (hopefully I can keep up with you) then that might be my best approach.

You've put a lot of time in this marathon and that will show in the race. Your focused effort and running the course really should build your confidence.

No worries Adam. Just execute... Thanks for the company. That was the shortest long run I have ever had!

Jon, Three weeks from yesterday. April 19th. Now starts the fun madness of tapering... This week will still be up but I'm going to start to cut back.

Kory, Some marathons I'm not as bad. In fact TOU was the least nervous of any marathon. I hadn't trained as much as normal and had no expectations so as long as I had fun I knew it was going to be a good race. Then came that awesome pace group for Jon and everything came together. This time around I've put in so many more miles so I don't have an "excuse" if I don't do what I want. That being said you are correct in saying that the running on the course should help and it has. Yesterday was fun with Steve. Thur was a little tough though. I did those five miles at pace but it didn't feel easy, in fact it felt pretty hard. As far as my plan I'm still 50:50 going out at the 2:35 splits or 2:40 splits. I like Sasha's comment about hitting the half at no slower than 1:20. I believe if I can do that and am in pretty good shape at that point I should be fine. Check out the course tool I did for the course. I have the splits posted on my desk here at work and at home as well as my book mark for the 2:35 so I'm constantly looking at them. Ok this is already a longer reply than I was intending so back to work...
