Obviously not a real race (yet)... Morning run before church.
Dear Family and Friends,
On Sept. 16th, 2018, I will be participating in the BMW Berlin Marathon, Germany to raise money through Team for Kids for New York Road Runners youth programs. Although it will be a challenge, I will be especially motivated knowing that it will benefit such a worthy cause. This week is a special week as it officially begins my 18 week training program.
NYRR youth programs, Rising New York Road Runners, serve 267,000 students locally and nationally through free NYRR youth running programs, events, and resources. These programs promote healthy lifestyles and empower youth development via running and character-building programs in schools and community centers nationwide. As the primary goal of the research I perform at UAB is to impact the effect of diabetes on the heart, it is important to know that exercise is a leading prevention and treatment of diabetes and its complications.
My goals are to complete the race and to meet my personal goal to raise $2,000 for NYRR youth programs. You may choose to make a pledge of $20, $50, or even more. My fundraising page can be found at the following link (https://runwithtfk.org/Donate/Member/56641). As of Friday (5/4/18) I’ve already raised $770, so we are well on our way. Your donation is fully tax deductible, all of it will go to the charity, and you will receive an email letter of acknowledgment for your tax records. I also ran my first 50 mile week since December 2015 last week and am fully committed to seeing this commitment through.
Please join me in supporting this cause and get kids running toward a brighter, healthier future!
All the best,
P.S. Want to double your donation? Ask your employer if they have a matching gift program!
