Single: Chad picked me up at 5:27am and we headed over toward Millcreek. After a little over 2-mile warmup we headed up to the very top of the road with a fairly large group (well over 10 runners). This was my first time being up there and I was amazed. I had gone up a few other times but never to the top. It sure makes a difference. We started at 6700 ft and it was still 52F when we started. The run was a loop through some of the most beautiful country I've seen since I've been here. There were so many wild flowers and there was actually tree cover. It was cold enough up there that there were two places we had to run across small patches of snow. The first six miles were all up hill. According to the Garmin we topped out at 9687ft. I think this is the second or third highest I have ever been. The view was amazing and we were looking down on the hot air balloons in Park City that were above us last weekend. The conversation was good and I spent the majority of the run talking to Chad, Steve C., and a new woman who's name I of course forgot (an intern at The U.). Overall it was a great run and the view and nice dirt path made this one of my favorite runs of all time. Total uphill by the Garmin was just over 5000ft. Once back to the parking lot I went back up for another 2 miles to get 16 for the day and 85 for the week. Mi 16-T1 Avg. 9:18

Next week I'm thinking 85 again and then I may back off a little for Des 10K. Today I wore the wrong shoes (T1) and they were completely trashed by the end of the run. Light weight trainers are no good for rugged trail running.

Sounds like a great run to end off a nice week. But are you sure Chad didn't pick you up at 5:28?

Cool run! The scenery makes the run on some days!

Adam--glad you could make the run today and it was enjoyable watching you soak in the great surroundings.

Jon--I was very specific about the pick up time. Fortunately, Adam is a timely guy.

Nice long run Adam and climb. That's the beauty about being a runner is just getting out and running in beautiful country, road, and trails that you've never been on before. Non-runners don't know what their missing.

Jon, I was more so giving Chad a hard time for specifying such an exact time (though he is right that I do appreciate those things). But also, since he put that number out there it is now a new 1/2-marathon pace goal of mine....

Marion, You are so right, the scenery did make the run. I will have to make it up there again soon.

Chad, Thanks again for everything Sat. I had a great day!

Kory, The climb was fun. There was one uphill that I pushed and just kept thinking about YGTBKM and how much I want to go back and give Ragnar a try. I'm a glutten for punishment. Also, there are so many things we get to see as runners that only serious hikers can ever also appreciate. So many early mornings in the woods with nothing but the world around you...
