I said it was time to get back on the wagon and the PT agrees. It turns out that the PT I saw Robin Marcus is a member of the Black Sheep and knows Chad, Josh, and company. Sometimes I'm so horrible with names, I've probably even met her but she didn't remember me either so maybe we didn't overlap for a workout. So I now have both an Ortho and a PT telling me that there is no obvious tear. That is good news. The bad news is we are not 100% sure. However, Robin was VERY thorough and came up with a bunch of suggestions and things for me to try as well as referred me to a third party to get one more thing checked out. So it is time to stop moping around and get back to running. I'm to try a few miles each day and as long as the pain doesn't get worse go with it. Also, I have some familiar stretches that I've neglected that I HAVE TO GET BACK TO... Finally, the "third party" is going to see if he can fix my orthotics. As they are over 8 yrs old it is probably about time. So the news is better than I was expecting, I was convinced there was a tear. We will see what happens next...

More or less the instructions I was given with my achilles. The more I ran the better it belt because it stayed loose. My PT told my that I HAD to run and stretch or the ASTYM wouldn't work.

JD, Thank you. I hope it returns some sanity to my life.

Jon, It was worst case scenerio. I felt some loss of stablity and a few people I spoke to said you could have a rip without a full tear that could give similar symptoms.

Eric, You've been telling me that all along. It sort of worked before the marathon. I was just getting frustrated with the pain. It has been a dull ache since the initial injury with momments of pain. However, "just rest" doesn't cut it...

Yeah, I was skeptical of my PTs insistence on running through it. For sure, in some case that would be disastrous.

Initially, it got a little worse, but right about when I was going to exercise executive authority and stop running it started to feeling better during runs and in a matter of days I felt zero pain during runs. However, for several weeks it was still very sore to the touch, even though it didn't hurt running. The pain upon touch didn't really dissipate until my taper.
