I think last night was the worst sleep night since Kristen was born. I eventually just turned off my alarm clock as I didn't have anything set in the morning. Managed to stay in bed until just before 7am but with many wake-ups. The run in went ok, especially considering the "speed" last night. But the day just dragged. Tomorrow half the day will be meetings so hopefully I can recover some. Avg. 9:36 HR 152 still not sure about the high start HR affecting the average...

Man, sounds like you guys are having sleep challenges. I'm sorry. At least you aren't over-exerting on the run with 9:36 avg...

Maybe the high start average is do to lack of sleep. Great dedication to get 5 miles in. I hope the rest of your week goes well.

Its static (sleep can certainly effect things, but not this much).

It seems like your HRM does that from time to time. Mine does occasionally, but only with a synthetic shirt, never with cotton. It also tends to be worse at the beginning run when my shirt is dry. It seems to do better with a new battery in the chest strap--higher signal to noise is my guess.

Just do what Ritzenhein does: sleep with earplugs and let your wife take care of everything.

"It's been great," Ritzenhein said, of being a proud father. "Kalin has to wake up in the middle of the night for feedings, but I have my ear plugs in and my eye mask on, so I really don't hear anything."

lol

Eric, I agree because when it is hotter out I don't have the problems (shirtless). Also, I always wear synthetic when I do have a shirt.

Paul, I want to stay married :)... I think we just got spoiled with my first daughter. She still sleeps from 7:30pm to 7:30am and has only woken up 6 times in the last 2 yrs in the middle of the night. I look at this as payback...

From Jon on Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 12:43:19 from 138.64.2.76

I like Paul's earplug idea. Although the better way is to be a super-deep sleeper, like me. Nothing wakes me up. In fact, sometimes my wife uses earplugs and still wakes up to the kids, while I don't. That way you can't get in trouble- you can just say you honestly didn't hear the baby and didn't wake up :)

I've also convinced Marci that since I have to wake up at 5 am for work, and she can sleep in as late as the kids let her, she does most of the night duty on weekdays. I might help a bit on weekends (if I wake up...)

From Adam RW on Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 12:49:05 from 155.101.152.103

Jon, That was actually the case last night. I woke up and said that we had such a better night. However, Sandra told me it was just that I didn't hear two of the wake-ups and was out like a log.

From paul on Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 12:58:42 from 65.103.252.214

Ha, I had nights like that early on. I'd wake up and say, "wow, Seth slept through the whole night!" And Stacy would look at me and say, "uh, no he woke up 3 times". Fortunately now Seths sleeps solid from 8:30PM to 5:30AM, with very few exceptions. And I get up between 5-5:30AM, so it works out well, as I can bring Seth over from his room for Stacy to nurse, and she never has to get up at all anymore (payback for those earlier months).

It helps that we also put the youngster in the far side of the house. If she wakes up too many times during the night, Marci just unplugs the baby monitor so we can't hear her crying. She may cry for an hour straight and we wouldn't know it (though I should note that is rare, she usually wakes up only once, at most). After all, no kid ever got hurt by crying at night...

It's amazing how our memories work. A lot of this I'm sure went on with Kaitlyn and I just blocked it out.

Paul, I like the turnaround is fare play.

Jon, Two night's ago was especially bad and we did let her go about 1/2 an hour. Then she fell asleep/passed out only to wake up an hour later fully charged for another 30min of crying. Not sure which is worse, these sleepless nights because of crying or the feature sleepless nights on date night...
