Finally a little better in the sleep department. Family day, church and then to the ice rink. We did the open skate. It was my wife and daughters first time on skates and my first time since 2002. Definitely could feel I was working different muscles and helping the little ones along gave a new meaning to arm and back work... Good day.

In the evening did a stadium loop with John.

AM: Happy MLK day. In college I took a class just on his life, speeches, etc. He was a very interesting person. Even though the campus is mostly empty I still had to come in to take care of things and keep this year's momentum going. Commute run in.

AM: That is not a typo with the sleep time. Just decided I needed to put some hours in the bank because tomorrow is going to be rough... Commute run.

Mi 2.5 Avg. 9:40 HR 137

PM: Had to cut the run and just do the direct commute back. I pushed as hard as footing/traffic would allow.

Seems like it was forever since I raced. Although Fritz reminded be that it has only been about 2 months. I didn't go into this race with any expectations. Just wanted to see some fellow runners and get a hard run in. The fog/smog was pretty thick and I think that did affect performance. At least it warmed to above freezing!

Got there a little late but enough time to put in about a mile. Then chatted with fellow bloggers, old faces, and some new faces as well. I felt like I was working but never red lined, although my HR might disagree with that assessment. Looking forward to the 10K in a couple of weeks and hopefully using this to spur a few more workouts here and there. The biggest thing is the air and ground. Looks like both may clear up this week... Cooled down afterwards with Fritz, Kevin, and new guy from Cornell College. Then some more chatting during the raffle. Overall a good morning and nice to talk to so many familiar people.
